Digital Cologistics

Project Description

In the context of a greener, more resilient, and increasingly digitized logistics landscape, the Digital CoLogistics Project stands as a key driver for the comprehensive transformation of the logistics system in the North Galicia-Portugal Euroregion. This project focuses on activities grounded in digitization with the purpose of enhancing competitiveness, attracting investments and large-scale logistic projects, and progressing towards a more sustainable logistics system in compliance with new regulatory frameworks.

Objectives

1.      Transform the logistics system to capitalize on opportunities resulting from the redefinition of global supply chains and the localization capabilities of industries.

2.      Implement a digital transformation in the logistics value chain, improving its positioning and positively impacting the environment.

3.      Increase business sector connectivity, reducing costs, improving processes, and facilitating access to new markets.

4.      Enhance business competitiveness, considering logistics and connectivity as determining factors in the location choice for new companies and industrial relocation processes.

Activities

A1. Big Data and Artificial Intelligence applied to business opportunity identification:

Based on the analysis of the value chains of the main strategic sectors in the Euroregion, actions will be implemented using Big Data and Artificial Intelligence to identify business opportunities for boosting new logistics routes or improving existing supply chains. This will strengthen the digital capabilities of the logistics system, positioning it as a Digital Logistic Hub.

A2. Digital integration of the value chain:

Seeking to improve the competitiveness of companies by optimizing their logistics processes, this activity aims to favor the digitalization of the Euroregion's logistics chain through the digital integration of different logistics environments and value chains that are intensive in maritime, land, and rail logistics.

A3. Attraction of investments and major economy-driving projects with a high logistics component:

A coordinated promotion action between Galicia-North Portugal will be undertaken in international markets to attract investments and major projects with a high logistics component. The goal is to jointly offer a highly competitive logistics system.

A4. Sustainable logistics:

Promote the implementation of digital solutions and other actions favoring the development of a more efficient, greener, and sustainable logistics system in the Euroregion, focusing on environmentally transforming logistics through its digital transformation.

Additionally, two cross-cutting actions will be carried out:

A5. Project coordination:

This activity will focus on coordinating both different activities and collaborative work among project beneficiaries, ensuring efficient and harmonized execution.

A6. Visibility, transparency, and communication:

To inform in a timely and responsible manner, this activity will focus on efficiently and transparently communicating the scope of actions developed within the project framework, seeking clear and understandable dissemination of progress and achievements.

Expected Results

The Digital CoLogistics Project aims to position Galicia and North Portugal as the Logistics Hub of Atlantic Europe, capitalizing on their competitive advantages and adapting to the global redefinition of supply chains. Specific achievements include:

1.      Cooperation between Galicia and North Portugal to increase their influence area, hence expanding the industrial and/or commercial market, adding logistics capabilities in terms of services and logistic infrastructure.

2.      Comprehensive transformation of the logistics system in Galicia and North Portugal through digitization, contributing to logistics' competitiveness and reliability, improving the positioning of the logistics system for attracting investments and major projects with a high logistics component, and environmentally transforming logistics to be greener and reduce the carbon footprint.

The success of the Digital CoLogistics Project lies in its ability to catalyze significant changes in the region, embracing the digital era, and building a more efficient, sustainable, and globally competitive logistics system.
