The European Commission publishes the second edition of the report "Blue Economy"

La Comisión Europea presentó la segunda edición del informe económico sobre “Blue Economy” coincidiendo con la celebración del Día Marítimo Europeo que tuvo lugar en Lisboa. Este informe, en el que se refleja que las actividades económicas relacionadas con los mares y océanos registraron un beneficio bruto de  74.300 millones de euros en 2017, pretende por tanto mostrar el tamaño e impacto de la Economía Azul en la Unión Europea. 

En esta nueva edición se incorporan más datos acerca de sectores emergentes e innovadores como son las energías renovables, desalinización o la bioeconomía azul, pero también consolida datos de los sectores más tradiciones (construcción naval o turismo). 

Según el informe, en términos absolutos, España se sitúa entre los cinco países que más contribuyen a la Economía Azul de la UE (junto con Reino Unido, Alemania, Francia e Italia), tanto en términos de empleo (con una contribución combinada del 61%) como de Valor Añadido Bruto (con una contribución combinada del 70%).
