Primeros resultados del futuro Peiraos do Solpor: “la batea experimental de A Laxe alumbra una biodiversidad marina de crecimiento muy rápido”

Hace apenas tres meses, la Universidad de Vigo junto con la Autoridad Portuaria de Vigo pusieron en marcha el proyecto piloto de lo que será el futuro “Peiraos do Solpor”. Se colgaron del pantalán de A Laxe (Puerto de Vigo) 27 estructuras a modo de batea (microarrecifes). Estas estructuras presentan distintas formas de relieve para facilitar la adhesión de diferentes organismos marinos sésiles. Los resultados obtenidos durante los primeros seguimientos evidencian la gran fertilidad de estas aguas sometidas a un intenso tráfico marítimo. Además, también es ya posible obtener una idea aproximada de los mejores tipos de estructura para atraer a determinadas especies y en una determinada cantidad. Ahora algunas de esas estructuras han sido retiradas y llevadas a laboratorio para realizar un análisis más pormenorizado.  

La siguiente fase de este ambicioso proyecto será la instalación a pie del muelle de Portocultura otra “batea” experimental, a partir de las conclusiones obtenidas en el proyecto piloto, que ofrecerá a cualquiera interesado la posibilidad de seguir la evolución del crecimiento de las colonias marinas por medio de un suelo parcialmente transparente.

• The President of the Port Authority of Vigo, Carlos Botana, and the Rector of the University of Vigo, Manuel Joaquín Reigosa, have signed a collaboration agreement laying the groundwork for the joint realization of the 3rd edition of the Scientists Meet Artists program. • The agreement between both entities aims to make this initiative more appealing to the people of Vigo, increasing its impact and visibility while enhancing interaction between the port and the city. • The building of the Real Club Náutico de Vigo has become the canvas on which artist Delio Rodríguez has created a mural of urban art focusing on ocean observation.
