Description

The activities carried out in the maritime-port sphere are part of a complex environment that requires high professional qualification, susceptible to technological innovations in response to adaptation to environmental regulations (energy efficiency, climate change ...) and to conservation measures in marine areas, especially sensitive (Red Natura 2000, for example). These conditions require that workers have specialized knowledge / skills and that this training be updated as the sector evolves in response to the demands of the blue economy. This requires dedicating efforts to improve professionalization, adapt to the emergence of new sectors and promote the generation of qualified employment. Likewise, there is a certain disconnection between training plans and expectations / needs of the labor market, so this project has two main objectives:

1. To adapt the professions of maritime-fishing technicians to social, environmental and industrial changes and promote professional development. In particular, work will be done to promote the professional qualifications of workers without formal training, allowing them access to a better job offer.

2. To promote the approximation between industry and the educational sector, in support of the development of professional careers in the blue economy. This approach will allow educating new generations of students, scientists, professionals and entrepreneurs.

To achieve these objectives, two lines of action have been established:

Specialized training courses:

- Climate change and management tools such as the carbon footprint or clean energy.
- Concept 4.0 and ICT tools. Courses will be taught for managers and technicians, with the intention of mastering the terminology of the new industrial revolution 4.0 and projects and actions in this area may come out in companies around the Port of Vigo.
- Training in port operator, simulator employee is intended to train people in the handling of technologically advanced machinery.

*In a transversal way, all the courses develop a sustainability module in which concepts such as clean energy, environmental management will be worked.

Advice:

Through a Labor Orientation Window, workers in the maritime-fishing-port sector will be oriented on the possibilities to improve employability and orient their professional career towards the blue economy.

The project is developed in the territorial area of Galicia and Andalusia. It has the commitment of support from the Regional Government of Galicia, Consellería de Mar. Other entities in Galicia and Andalusia collaborate in terms of advice and technical support in development: the Campus of International Excellence of the Sea – Campus do Mar, from each of these regions, as well as the Huelva Port Authority.

It is already finsihed. The training programs for the courses had been defined and developed, and the contents and formats for all training activities, both distance and face-to-face, were developed.

In parallel, a detailed study of the activities carried out in the maritime-port area were developed, defining professional profiles most in demand, the market offer to respond to these needs and the possible needs to update the training offer to meet the needs.
