History and TrainingIt has been led by the Port Authority of Vigo and supported by the Cooperative of Fishing Shipowners of the Port of Vigo, the Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands (PLOCAN), the University of Vigo, and the Institute for Sustainable Business Growth (ICSEM). It has contributed to strengthening skills and lifelong learning in the extractive fishing sector by presenting an analysis of the mismatch between education and the labor market, identifying training deficiencies for current positions, and enabling anticipation of future needs. A total of 13 training pathways have been designed, with a significant impact, providing training to 238 individuals, including 150 professionals in the fishing sector.
• The event, organized by the Nautical Cluster of Ría de Vigo, will take place from September 30th to October 8th at various locations in the Ría. • Sports, culture, leisure, and tradition come together to fill a program that promises not to leave anyone indifferent.
• Strengthens its collaboration with the FAO as a training center for combating illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing, reaffirming its commitment to promoting sustainability in the global fisheries sector and ports. • Over the course of three weeks, it will host a total of 16 inspectors from Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, Peru, Honduras, Mexico, Uruguay, and Panama. They will learn from international experts as well as teams from the Xunta de Galicia and the General Secretariat of Fisheries about tools and practices that they can apply in their respective countries.
